Mr. Mathew Court - Power Lifter

Mr. Court Lifting up Mrs. Court...what do you think was going through her mind???

Mr. Court at the Provincial Championships...going for another world record!?!

Mr. Court competing in the strong man competition...imagine pulling this 18 wheeler 150 feet!

Our class will soon have the opportunity to meet Mr. Court in person! Just prior to his next competition in Ohio during the March Break, he will be taking time out of his busy schedule to come and talk to us.
Some students have already had the chance to ask Mr. Court questions through their journal. In the comments section please share what you have learned about him with the rest of the class. If you did not have the opportunity to write in your journal then please think of one question you would now like to ask.

We'd like to wish Mr. and Mrs. Court all the best as they head off to this Arnold Schwarznegger invitational competition as part of a Canadian delegation of 8 power lifters. We look forward to hearing about this experience.

Bravo!
From your fans from grade 4 at L.E.S.

BOOK JACKET DESIGNS- Stories of Courage

Dear Grade 4,

You have read, discussed and created short stories and poems about Non fictinal characters who have shown courage. Now it is your turn to create a Fictional story about courage.

Your assignment will be to create a Story Plan Recount and to design an accompanying book jacket. Keep in mind what is optional and what must appear on a book jacket (refer back to the list we brainstormed in class)

Have fun! We are looking forward to your "novels" .

THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER - RYTHM POEMS

Dear grade 4 students,

Please read (or sing) the following:

THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER
WENT UP THE WATER SPOUT
DOWN CAME THE RAIN
AND WASHED THE SPIDER OUT
OUT CAME THE SUN
AND DRIED UP ALL THE RAIN
AND THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER
WENT UP THE SPOUT AGAIN

Can you tell us what type of courage the Itsy Bitsy spider showed us? Think of other poems or stories geared toward a younger audience that have messages of courage in them and share them with us.

Now please select someone that you know, know of, or read about in class, who has displayed courage. Use a web to brainstorm ideas and facts about this person.

Using this information create your own RHYTHM poem to the tune of The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Have fun!
Mrs. Gagne, Mrs. Court

Holiday Time - I was Grateful For...

Welcome Back Dear Students,

I hope that your holiday was restful and filled with joy! In the comments section I would like to read about 2 things you were grateful for during the holidays. Here are the guidelines:

1) Your 2 items cannot be a material object like a new computer game. However if the item serves to help you, a family member or friend out by improving the quality of their lives that is okay (ie. perhaps you received a new pair of reading glasses that you have been needing)

2) You must begin with an opening line

3) Tell us what you are grateful for and why (2 times). Explain what it meant to you.

4) Save it as a draft in the LES grade 4g/r. Please have me check it over before publishing it.

I have also completed this assignment in the comments section. Please read it through before you start writing your own piece.

Happy New Year!!!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!

The last day of school before the holidays was really cool! I liked the movie we watched, it was "ELF". We watched it with the whole school in the gym. I especially liked my apple juice and my 2 subway cookies I got to eat at recess.

I wouldn't like to be as tall as Buddy, which was the elf in the movie. I hope you tell me about your thoughts on the movie in the comments section.
Happy Holidays to everyone, KL
