THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER - RYTHM POEMS

Dear grade 4 students,

Please read (or sing) the following:

THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER
WENT UP THE WATER SPOUT
DOWN CAME THE RAIN
AND WASHED THE SPIDER OUT
OUT CAME THE SUN
AND DRIED UP ALL THE RAIN
AND THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER
WENT UP THE SPOUT AGAIN

Can you tell us what type of courage the Itsy Bitsy spider showed us? Think of other poems or stories geared toward a younger audience that have messages of courage in them and share them with us.

Now please select someone that you know, know of, or read about in class, who has displayed courage. Use a web to brainstorm ideas and facts about this person.

Using this information create your own RHYTHM poem to the tune of The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Have fun!
